SAARSTAHL ASCOVAL, one of the most modern steelworks in Europe.
SAARSTAHL ASCOVAL is a steel mill that produces continuous casting rounds (“RCC”) of different diameters (from Ø180 to Ø325 mm), billets (155x155mm) and blooms (255x330mm and 300x365mm) in carbon and alloy steel.
Equipment includes:
SMS Concast 90 t / 115 MVA electric arc furnace
15 MVA refining furnace
Vacuum degassing unit (VOD) – 2 tanks
Continuous Casting Curved 4 lines Danieli – 12 m radius
The factory has an area of 245,000 m² and is located near Valenciennes (northern France), at the crossroads of the main highways. The factory is connected to the railway network and the Scheldt. Scrap metal is abundant in the region.
The equipment is in excellent condition; 150 million euros have been invested over the last 10 years.
Production reached 275kT in 2021, 338kT in 2018.
The capacity of the factory is between 250 and 600 kt/year depending on the production backlog and the number of production teams. The building and the available surface area allow extensions and the development of new manufacturing processes.

The plant
The equipment is in excellent condition. 150 m€ have been invested in the last 10 years (in particular a new continuous casting machine and a new electric arc furnace).
